It's been over a year and I don't even know if people even read this anymore! No one reads mine now, but I'm starting to get better. I think i decided I wanted to keep more like an online journal for myself, except leave out all the details, but more like what I did that day. Just every few days say what you did and what you've learned since the last post. I got the idea from a video I watched in seminary one day. Let me tell you a little bit about it.

I can't remember the name of it, but it is about a wife/mother who was traveling with her husband and the plane crashed. She was burned all over and had to have several surgeries to fix the damage. And because of the surgery, she looks nothing like her old self. She wrote on there how she didn't feel beautiful anymore and thought she was somewhat of a freak. But everyday she wrote stuff she was thankful for. Like her children, and being there to raise them. And she soon realized that she was beautiful, her own kind of beautiful.
This video taught me many lessons. Number 1: Don't take the little simple things for granted. They are there for a reason, but can easily be taken away from you. Number 2: Beauty is in the sight of the beholder. Everyone is beautiful in their own way. And describing someone as beautiful doesn't mean they are the best looking person around, but can mean that their personality is beautiful. Their actions. Their kindness. So everyone is different, but that is the good thing about life. Life is crazy, and hectic sometimes, but that is why it's fun. It's always those crazy days that make the best memories.

Well, in news of our family, Jeff got married to Kristi in November. I'm going to be a senior and don't know how to feel about that. Lacey is living with us again, and working like crazy. Peydon is about to turn 10, Hadley soon to be 8 and getting baptized, with Kyson almost 7! Laura and Mike moved back to Utah, with their 4 children. Brianna is now 10, Justin 9, Josh will be 6 (I think?), and baby Jayden is now over 1 year old! Libby and Brock are enjoying life and being close to work ha! Sadie turned 8 and will be baptized this next month, Carter is going to be 7 too, with Gracie now 2 and being...well, herself! She sure is developing her personality! But that is the update on ALL the kids!

Time to catch everyone up!

I guess it's time to catch everyone up on what's been going on in our lives. My last post was in Feb. right before I got to go to Alaska to help with Laura and the new little one Jayden. I flew out on the afternoon of the 17th of February with a stop in Seattle, WA and got into Anchorage at 8:38pm. Laura, Mike and the kids (all 4 of them) came to the airport to get me. I was pretty exhausted, but couldn't help but spend a few minutes hugging and loving all 4 of the grandkids (especially baby Jayden) that I don't get to see very often. The baby had an early morning doctor's appointment on the 18th so I got to hang out with the 3 older ones and watch cartoons and straighten the house and help them get ready for the day. We went to the Moose's Tooth, the BEST Pizza place I've ever been to. I've waited for almost 2 years for a slice or two of their Southwest Taco Pizza. YUMMY!
We just enjoyed the last few hours Mike had with us before he headed back to Iraq the next morning early. That was a tough morning for Laura, the kids, Mike...all of us. Laura, the kids and I spent the next few days having fun and enjoying our time together. Then all of that changed.
On the morning March 1st, Dana called early and told me that a large tumor on my Mom's liver was diagnosed as cancer. I was in shock. She had been sick when I left, but she seemed to be on the mend. Then it got worse that afternoon when Linette called me and said that the doctor called my Dad later on and told him he wanted him to know that he thought she had less than a month. I spent the next couple of days crying and not sleeping much. It was so hard to say "Good-bye" to Laura and the kids knowing what I was heading home to. They dropped me off at the airport at 10pm and my flight took off at 1am. I had a 2 hour layover in Seattle, WA and a 1 hour layover in Denver, CO and then landed in Salt Lake City at 1:30pm. Dana was there to get me and other than stopping to put fuel in the pickup and feed me a burger and Coke, we didn't stop till I got to my Mom's. Mom and I embraced and cried, but she was in a joking mood and seemed to be taking it all very well. I felt better after seeing her and relieved that she might be with us for a while.
I spent the next days taking care of my Mom. Dana and Libby took care of all the business work and Janie took care of the laundry and house. As it turned out, she went down hill so fast that she was gone by the 13th. It was a tough time, but it was a very spiritual experience for us.
We all got to tell her we loved her, do the service for her she needed, and say "Good-bye" to her before she passed on. I spent many hours rubbing her feet or legs or back and holding her hand and brushing her hair. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to do that for her. And then, at a little after midnight on the 13th of March, she slipped out of this life and on to the next. It was peaceful. The following week was spent getting arrangements made. We had a day to help dress her for the last time and I cried as I did her hair for the last time. She had such thick, beautiful hair. We had her funeral on the 19th of March and buried her in the Monroe City Cemetary.
It's been almost 2 months and I'm still struggling with the finality of everything. I really miss her. It all went so fast. I do great during the day when I am busy, but at night when things are quiet and calm, thoughts and memories come rushing back and that is when I fall apart. Then my dear Hubby has to hold me and put the pieces back together. It is one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. I'm so grateful for the gospel and the knowledge that I will see her again someday.
As for the other things going on, we are in the middle of softball season with Janie, staying busy with the business, taking care of the grandkids, and altering dresses and making bridal veils for the two upcoming brides in the family. So things are busy as usual.

Newest member of the family!

Welcome to our newest little member of our family - Jayden Joseph George. So here goes:
We are down to 5 weeks till Elder Jeff Lundgreen comes home. I am so excited about this, yet sad that he has to say "Good-Bye" to all the people in Australia he has come to know and love. And even though I look forward to his hug, I will miss those wonderful, spiritual e-mails and letters. It will nice to see him again and we have all missed him like crazy, but I cannot imagine him not getting these 2 years of serving the Lord. It has been an amazing journey for all of us.
Also, we got Janie's new grades today and...yep, once again 4.0/straight A's. She is such a good girl. She works hard though, so that she can do this well. We are proud of her and love her. Good job, Janie!! She is excited to be able to do stats for wrestling again this year. She loves doing that and we get an excuse to hang out at the wrestles and keep an eye on her.
As for us, the business is going okay and we are hanging in there. It seems to be slowing down right now and we are preparing for the winter. Dana sent a driver in his "baby" (his big 18 wheeler truck) and that was tough to do for him. Other than that we are just having fun with the grandkids and loving life.

What a summer!

Well, I know it's been awhile and I can't believe that time has gone by that fast. We've been incredibly busy this summer and fall is now upon us. It was a fun summer. We had Laura and her children Brianna, Justin and Joshua here for a visit in June and July. We enjoyed our time together (even though the kids were like a pack of wolves and we were way overwhelmed by all of them together at once). The kids played non-stop for about 6 weeks straight from sun up till sun down and sometimes even later. We finished it all up with a chocolate pancake breakfast and a hot dog and marshmallow roast followed by smores for dessert! Then the next morning we were all able to attend Peydon's baptism and then off to Denver to take Laura and the kids to catch their flight home. It was a tough thing for Grandma Loney to say "good-bye" and February will be fun to go see them and be there to welcome their new little one. We did get a fun tour of Bronco Stadium (Invesco Field) and it was one of Peydon's dreams-come-true. What a great birthday gift for him!
We are now getting back into the swing of things with school, volley ball, football, and all the other activities that come with school starting up. Janie started her Sophmore year, she now is legal to drive and old enough to date, scary! We've also been busy canning the harvest from our garden and just taking care of business 5 days a week. It's scary and humbling to have 12 families depending on you for their jobs. We are doing our best to keepthem going.
Now we are looking forward to the return of Elder Lundgreen on Dec. 12th at 4pm. We are all excited and invite any family members who want to be there and fulfill his dream to come and welcome him home to the good 'ole USA.

PS: I'll try to get some pictures up soon!

Good to be home!

We are now back home and I can update and let everyone know how the week ended. Last I wrote Janie and I went to do some looking around and touring of Old Nauvoo. We really enjoyed it and the weather was perfect. We met a family from Alaska and they just split off of the Stake that Laura's family belongs to. When Janie and I got back, Dana and I got ready and did a session at the Nauvoo LDS Temple. It is so beautiful. We loved it and had reserved a couple of seats so we could be sure to get in. What an amazing experience! Then we took Janie and traveled 25 miles to Carthage and toured Carthage Jail and that was also such a great spiritual experience for us. That evening we sat outside in the Nauvoo Outdoor Stage area and watched the show that the missionaries (senior and young both) put on, called "Sunset by the Mississippi". It was one of the best programs I've ever seen. We all loved it, even Janie - she rolled her eyes in the beginning, but by the end she was as entertained as we were! On Thursday we had to leave to come home and it was with real mixed emotions that we left. We wanted to get back home, but we also loved the feeling there so much. It was hard to say good-bye. Anyway, we got home Friday night late and it is good to be home.

Spur-of-the-moment vacation!

So Janie and I left on Saturday and went shopping the first part of the day with Sadie (for her birthday), Libby, Gracie, and Mitzi (Brock's Mom). We had so much fun - let's do it again! Later in the afternoon Dana came and picked Janie and I up and we left for South Dakota. We got a room and spent the night in Rock Springs, WY.
On Sunday we listened to conference cds and church music cds and then we got to Martin's Cove and hiked up into the Cove. It is a very spiritual and special place. We also passed Independence Rock and traveled most of the day to get to Mt. Rushmore, SD. We got there in time to get some good pictures and then to stay and watch the evening program. It was pretty cool.
On Monday we got to Aberdeen, SD and unloaded a reel of cable we took up there. Then we headed to Nauvoo, IL. We really didn't plan on going there, but decided while we were this close we may as well go. It was a good day to travel because it rained all day. We stopped and slept in Stuart, IA.
On Tuesday we got up early - which Janie is protesting because it is suppossed to be summer vacation - and got to Nauvoo by early afternoon. We went to a couple of places and got some great pictures, and then we ended up (after pricing several motels) renting a little log cabin for a couple of days. It is soo neat! We went to a show "Rondevouz at Old Nauvoo" done by the couple and senior missionaries. It was hilarious and so cute. We also ran into Jerald and Kathy Tolman who used to live in Monroe and now are on a mission here. It was so good to see them.
Now today we are going to tour a few more of the Old Nauvoo sites, do a session at the temple, then on to tour Carthage Jail and catch the show "Sunset on the Mississippi". It will be a fun day!
I'll catch everyone up when I get home.

Surprise Visit!

So Sunday right after General conference we got a surprise visit from a couple that just returned from Port Maquarie, Australia and served with Jeff "Elder Lundgreen" in that area. They just returned home less than 2 weeks ago. The funny part is, we just got a letter from them on Saturday saying they'd be in the area visiting their daughter in Richfield and they'd like to meet for a brief visit. We were, of course, taken by surprise. The house was total chaos, because we had both Lacey and Libby's families here to watch conference with us. It was so neat though. They said he's a very enthusiastic missionary, very humble and dedicated. We got to hear about the mission area, the people he's teaching, and a few fun stories about he and his companion. Sister Abplanalp gave me a hug that was straight from "Elder Lundgreen". It made me cry, but I cry at everything that has anything to do with missionaries. Prayers, stories, letters, you name it, I cry. Oh well, I just deal with it.

Gracie Jane Abraham - our newest addition.

Here she is at about one month old. It has been busy and hectic - just like for everyone else I'm sure! We got a new little one on Feb. 19th. Gracie Jane Abraham weighed in at 7#'s and 21" long. She is so fun and beautiful. She has lots of hair and we have so much fun playing with her. Things have been getting better with the trucking industry so we are a little busier. Janie has started Track and Libby and Brock are moving to a new home they bought. Dana also went into the doctor for his hands and they think he may have reumatoid arthritis. They drew blood and we'll know more this week. Anyway, that is what is going on in our lives for now.

New Year's Update!

This is Jeff's latest letter from today. Just thought I'd add it and while I am wish everyone a Happy New Year. And fill everyone in on how things are going. We are all doing good. It's good to be back home (even though we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to San Diego). We really had fun going to the San Diego temple, Sea World, Coranado beach and historic hotel, and the San Diego Zoo, and visiting our friends the Velez family. This week I've just been trying to recouperate. And today was a nice, peaceful Sunday. We had Lacey's kids with us for church (she had to work) and I had my first day as one of the Sunbeam teachers in our ward. I loved it. This is such a cute class. I'm so excited about teaching these little kids. Well, here is Jeff's latest letter.

Hey,
Well my new years was good we didn't do anything special it wasn't really new years but it is the new year anyways. Things are going well with the work but we were still unable to get Tegan and Sara to church. There is no Public transport out there on weekends. They live in a place called Rollands Plains it is about 45 minutes out of Port and way out of the way. We called the branch president who is older, rich, and retired and has two nice cars to see if he would be willing to do it and he basically asked us why we were teaching somebody so far away and said it was a really big thing of us to ask him to do and we asked him if he knew anybody in the branch that would be willing or able to do it and he told us that he would discuss it in branch council which we aren't invited to and then we followed up with him and he said that this branch didn't have the means to pick up investigators that far away. It wouldn't have been so bad if he wouldn't have been so rude and unemphathetic about the whole situation. He basically didn't want to help at all and it was a very frustrating thing. He didn't even act excited or happy that there were people who wanted to be Baptized. But oh well i mean if he doesn't want the gospel in others lives bad enough to sacrifice for it then he loses the blessings from that sacrifice. I just wish that it didn't effect our investiagtors lives or salvation.Anyways we might have to push their baptism back again and i am afraid that it might just take months for them to get a car or transportation and everything and so it would push everything else back and pretty soon they will just turn into eternal investigators or will just drop off. They are just so prepared for the gospel it is rediculous. Anywho.... That is way awesome that Utah beat Alabama for the sugar bowl i heard that espn was going on about it. And it sounds like the wrestling team is doing okay. I would think Janie would be a bit better at telling me who is doing good and things since she is taking stats but oh well i guess i will just have to suffer in ignorance. hahaha. So anyways it sounds like your trip was good and you guys had a good time. Did you guys go to the beach or was it to cold? In a few weeks President Scruggs is coming up and spending a weekend up here with his family and the branch is having a beach party that weekend and president sent us an e-mail and we get to go and he said we can go down on the sand but didn't say anything about the water so i would imagine that we will be restricted from the water. All good. He is going to take us all out to dinner and everything that night so it should be fun. He is going to be speaking in church and they are doing compined relief society and priesthood also so i bet he is going to really try to get this branch going with missionary work and stuff so it will be really interesting. Anyways so how is the family? It sounds like things are going alright. What is everybosy up to. How are the Mills's and the Barneys and everybody going. Tell them i said hello and i love em. Anyways well we are going to have Elder Butters the zone leader and his trainee Elder Putnam coming down from Grafton and we are going on exchanges in our area and having district meeting and stuff so it should be a good week. Anyways i love you and miss you all i hope things are going awesome and i pray for ya heaps.
Love
Elder Lundgreen

Merry Christmas! and a letter from Jeff!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Here is Jeff's Christmas letter!

Hey,
So i thought i would let everybody know how christmas in Austrailia is looking so far. Really it doesn't feel like christmas with this heat and ocean views but i am enjoying it all the same. This last week was awesome. We had christmas conference and we got to go down to city on the country link train which is about a 6 or 7 hour journey in which we played plenty of bored games and card games as a zone. We then spent the night in Temple accomodations and three zones worth of missionaries all got up early and we went down to a park and played a big game of touch rugby which is actually a way fun game i can't wait to get home and introduce it to everyone. After that we all got ready and went to the temple and did a session. We then went and had a christmas lunch/dinner it was really good with all kinds of meats and potatoes and sweet potatoes and deserts and stuff. We then had a talent show which was short but really good because some of the missionaries are really good with guitars. After that president set up a big screen and a projector and showed us some "worldly films" haha it was pretty good to sit back with a fizzy and some pop-corn and forget the world and watch a couple movies. We then sang some christmas carols and hymns, got our packages and went back talked and went to bed, woke up early the next morning got on the train and came back up to Port Macquire. It was a good Christmas Conference and made me actually feel like it was christmas.Besides that the highlight of the last week has been a lady named Tegan she and her sister Sara are investigators and they are really progressing well Tegan wants to be baptised and has commited to it and we are hoping sara will also. We still have a lot to teach them but i can't help but have a good feeling about their future because they seem so prepared. The only rough part is that they live 40 minutes away from the chappel and don't have a car and nobody in the branch is able to give them a ride.(Some because they have no way to and some because they are just unwilling to.) But luckily the lord is on our side and it seems like everything is going to work out.It is a great time and a hard time to be a missionary in Australia. I feel very dissapointed to see so many people with hard hearts and it almost makes you overcome with frustration and a feeling of failure but then you get a sense of satisfaction that cannot be described when you find success in small ways or in huge ways. My testimony is this that God lives and love us. His son Jesus Christ was born into this world a small baby but was the savior and reedemer and grew and suffered and died for us that we can return to live with Them again. I know this is the true gospel. I hope you all have a merry christmas and know that i love you heaps.
Love,
Elder Lundgreen

Happy Holidays everyone!

Letter 2

Here is another letter from Jeff!

Hello,
Well this last week was a crazy one. I felt lost all week because i was transfered into a new area. It is a really beautifull area i live about two minutes from the beach and can hear the waves crashing when it gets loud enough so it is pretty neat. It is hot enough that a cool swim in the ocean would be really nice most days. It actually rained for about two days straight just after i got into this new area so things got pretty depressing feeling and then it got really really warm and humid for a couple days and so it was just throwing us for a loop but all is well the work must go on. We have a few investigators up here in Port Macquarie that look pretty promising and Elder Bregante and myself are pretty excited for the upcoming few months. Elder Bregante is from Santa Cruz California and is about two or three inches shorter than me and stocky built he is hilarious and an awesome cook. We have gotten along really well so far and so things are looking good. I really just am trying to learn my way around the area so that i can be more usefull and take my part more as senior companion and lead out but it will take a little time to get to know the people here and the area it is a massive area we cover it takes about 2 hours to drive from top to bottom and a little more from side to side(at least i think anyways).I am still a district leader over sisters and i have a sister from Utah and one from New Zealand and they are probably considered the "Trouble sisters" of the mission. I have only got in one little dispute with them so far because they didn't like something i asked them to do but all is well we worked it out and they came to their senses. haha They actually had a baptism this last weekend and so friday evening we drove down so i could do the baptismal interview and then we were given speciel permission from president to spend the night at some members in their area because it is like a hour and a half trip and the baptism was in the morning and the zone leader wanted us to attend the baptism too. So we stayed at this 80 year old couples house... It was kinda like staying at your grandparents you don't know haha. They cooked us Eggs and Bacon in the morning and everything so it wasn't to shabby. This week we get on the train on Wednsday morning and spend most of the day on the train down to Sydney and that night we will go work with some of the elders down there and the next day is our christmas conference and then we spend the night again and travel back up the next morning early. It should be a fun week we will get to attend the temple and everything so we are looking forward to it.The Branch here is pretty small maybe 30-40 people at sacrament. Our chapel is a remodled barn haha and is pretty tiny. The members here seem pretty cool. i haven't even unpacked all of my stuff from my suitcases since i got here last week we have just tried to get out and work as much as possible and i usually just feel to tired and wore out by the end of the day but hopefully i will get settled in soon. We are only taking part of our preperation days this month because we have so many days we can't really go out tracting and stuff with the holidays so president asked us to get out as much as possible when we can. It is kinda rough but oh well I guess sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven. We really need blessings i have just really been trying to work on my own desire and love for the people and the work because i struggle at times with it but i am working on becoming better. I know that the lord will help us overcome our weaknesses if we humbly work and pray for strength to overcome them. I know that we have a savior and that he knows us and has atoned for us so we can repent, change, and become better. I am gratefull for the opportunity to be serving here in Australia and serving Heavenly Father by serving these people. I love you all and miss ya heaps.
Love,
Elder Lundgreen

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Letters...

I realized that Laura's idea to put the letters from Jeff on here is a really good idea. I told Mom that I would do it because she is always busy with the business. Here is a letter we got this week:
Hey Mom, Dad, Janie and whoever else,
Well this transfer ended and we got our calls and i am leaving Toronto. It is kinda weird to think but i am going further up the coast to a place called Port Macquarie. It is a ways up the coast from Sydney and is just a Branch instead of a Ward so it is going to be different. My companions name is Elder Bergante he is from california and Elder Appleton trained him in Ourimbah when i was transfered out and was in this zone when i came back so i know him pretty well he is an awesome cook so i will have to exercise more to keep the weight off. It will be sad to leave this area even if i am a little restless to leave because it is right before christmas and you start to get close to the members and stuff when you spend this long in an area. Plus Elder Rorason is an awesome guy and we had a fun transfer together. Well on christmas day i don't know exactly when you want me to call home.... i am not 100% sure the time difference but i think we are 18 hours ahead right now so you guys try to give me a time to call you and i will give it a shot but if you don't tell me then i will just call at like 7 or 8 at night there but if you want it earlier just let me know. So anyways.... I don't have much else to tell you i know that the package you sent is there because i saw it but they save it for christmas conference so i will wait until then. But anyways I love you all and miss ya let me know about christmas and stuff and i will talk to you later.

Love Elder Lundgreen

There! I will also post the ones he sends to me or Dad. I think that would be good for everyone to read them! I didn't even realize I had the ability to post on it until today. Anyways I was thinking maybe Mom or Janie could copy and past info from Jeff on here to keep everyone up to date on him. I finally heard from him this week. Here is his letter to me.

Hey sis,
Thanks for the e-mail and the update. I am doing well Australia is hot sunny and i trying to keep myself from getting skin cancer by wearing sunscreen but sometimes i forget and get a little burnt. That's what i get for being "The red-headed step child".
Anyways it sounds like you and the kids and Mike are doing good i hope you guys are enjoying that snow it just doesn't feel like Christmas is coming to me this hot humid weather just kills my Christmas spirit but hopefully it will all turn out right.
I am getting transferred to a Place called Port Macquarie tomorrow right before Christmas so that kinda sucks but a change will be nice. It is hard to leave an area when you know the members better than you do in your home ward especially when you baptized a few of them but oh well the i know that everything happens for a reason and it will all be okay because the Lord is there and has his hand in all things. Sometimes it is hard being a missionary, There is no place like home and family but this place becomes somewhat of a home and the people and members and companions become like a family so you don't know whether time ticking is a good thing or a bad thing.
Anyways Laura tell the family i love them. Give the kids a hug for me and you guys take care. Love ya heaps.

Love

Elder Lundgreeen

I find inspiration every time I read one of his letters and think most of you would like to read them! SO someone keep on top of it!

Long Time

It's been a really long time since anyone has posted on here, so I decided that I would. What's been going on with everyone? Nothing much has been going on here, just been busy with school and of course helping Mom and Dad with the office. So everyone in the family is doing good, just been a little chaotic and helping Lacey.... But other than that, just normal life.

Yesterday was Veteran's Day as you all know. In school we had an amazing experience, well at least I did. The student council told the teachers to be mean to everyone, like how a Sgt. would be, and they took away the tables and chairs and told us we had to earn them back. So yeah, it was pretty interesting. Especially since my seminary class is right before the assembly and Bro. Cornelsen was really good at being mean. He sent me to the back of the classroom in a corner all by myself because I was talking! HAHA! I always talk. But then we went to an assembly and it was so sad. I was teary-eyed. THey played songs like American Soldier by Toby Keith and If You're Reading This by Tim Mcgraw. Oh my gosh, I love those songs, but they are so sad. You know the kind when it seems nothing goes right. I have sinus infection, I still had to get up at 6am and work all day doing billing, payroll, and dispatching. Dana is gone to Pennsylvania, Brock is gone to California because he doesn't have a driver this week, and I feel like crap, I just need to take a hot bath and go to bed. Any way, thank goodness I had Libby and Lacey to help me today. They answered phones, did some billing and some dispatching, and handled most of the kids crisis'. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better one.

my oh-so exciting life

Well, I just got back from v-ball practice.
